What the hell is going on here?

It tastes normal, looks normal, smells normal...but it sure doesn't feel normal. You just have to travel back a couple of decades to see that all this shit that is going on now is everything but common.

Do you want me to teach you to tie up your shoes, or would you rather keep trippin?

ARCO

I was at ARCOmadrid this weekend. I thought it was going to be a room full of technology-invaded art and indie kids with big cameras who evidently took 3 hours to get dressed (add an extra 4 for hair and makeup) taking photos of everything and making artistic comments they stole from magazines. It was. Still, I liked it. It was interesting, some stuff inspiring, other i'd rather forget about. I'll put pics of my favorite pieces as soon as i find my mac.

At the fair I got some excellent books which you should read/see:

100 jours et quelques - Dran
Its made out of scans of pages from an agenda, each with a funny/creepy illustration by the artist Dran. I adore it, I've looked through it so many times and I just dont get tired of it. If you know his work you'll know what I mean, if not, look for it!

Los colores del underground - Joan S. Luna
This one is a compilation of interviews with 22 of the most representative international artists of what can be called the 'pop surrealism' underground movement. This is a kind of art which I love. It is urban yet refined. Very ironic, very relevant to the world today, and with strong links to music and underground subcultures. I like it because of the fact that they're interviews. Its artists talking about their own work so they give you a much deeper insight than if someone was analysing their work from the outside. Really worth the price.

BLU 2004 2007 - BLU
This is a book that compiles the works of the urban artist BLU from '04 to '07. It speaks for itself. If you havent seen anything of his, look for it  right now because he is a genious (www.blublu.org).
